One of the most common questions about our Church concerns our relationship with technology. Misconceptions can be common, including the view that we reject modern technology entirely. The reality is quite different.
In fact, Plymouth Brethren members across the United Kingdom work with technology daily. Technology that serves good purposes, such as communication, education, business and healthcare, is embraced.
At the same time, the Plymouth Brethren community recognises that technology brings risks alongside benefits. This includes concerns about internet safety, excessive screen time, inappropriate content, and addiction to digital devices. These concerns are not unique to our community and are regularly discussed within UK society, often being a central point of concern for families across all walks of life.
The response of members is to engage with modern technology thoughtfully.
Families make considered decisions about technology use, particularly for children. Community standards encourage wisdom and moderation. The aim is to benefit from technology’s advantages while protecting against its potential harms.
